This week, 68 participants from across the world joined together at EDHEC’s stunning campus in Nice, France. Welcomed by GMBA programme director Sandra Richez and Stephane Canonne, Director of EDHEC Executive Education & MBAs, the new intake is truly international: 30 different nationalities and 46% female candidates from many different industries and professions.

International talent united for a truly Global MBA experience

Diversity is an important selection criterion when choosing an MBA programme and EDHEC’s Global MBA is consistently ranked as one of the most diverse and far-reaching programmes in the world. Our new class includes 30 different nationalities from across the world: 35.3% from Asia Pacific, 23.5% are from Europe, Latin Americans make up 13% of the cohort,10.3% are from the Middle East, 10.3% from North America and 7.4% join us from Africa!

“I am delighted to see such a diverse, talented and multicultural cohort and in particular to welcome a class which includes 46% women. We carefully select each participant, recognising not only their individual strengths and experiences but also how they can contribute to the wider class.

Working day-in, day-out with people from different cultures, countries, professions and industries is key to developing authentic, inclusive and ethical leaders. I am very much looking forward to watching our MBA class of 2022 rise to the challenges they will face in their 10-month journey with us.“  Sandra Richez, Global MBA Programme Director

With an average age of 31, ranging from 25 to 45 years old, and 7 years of professional experience, our participants come from a multitude of different professions, sectors and industries, from Finance to Consulting, healthcare to FMCG and engineers to business developers. From creating a new business adventure through to changing careers, changing location or changing industries, our participants’ aims and goals are just as varied as the cohort.

Bithal Ansuman from India joined the Global MBA at EDHEC because he is seeking to “accelerate his career, gain global exposure and a deeper understanding of strategy and digital innovation”.

Caitlin MacDougall from Canada seeks to expand her professional opportunities and strengthen her leadership and financial skills to take on senior leadership roles in either higher education institutions or in non-profit organizations.

Theodoros Stylianou from Cyprus, has a background in Auditing and decided to pursue an MBA to change not only his profession but also change industry and location – known as the ‘triple-jump’. Theodoros said “I wanted an MBA that would enable me to develop business acumen, enhance my finance skills and build a global network to change from an audit role to the finance sector and work in the EU. EDHEC’s multicultural cohort and international programme were key reasons for me chosing the Global MBA”.

Ready, steady, go

After kicking off the Global MBA programme with a busy two-day induction which included a campus tour hosted by our alumni, our new MBAs headed for the stunning Iles de Lérins for a day-long orientation session where they were tasked to work together as teams to overcome a series of complex challenges based around the theme of sustainability. Team work, communication and authentic & ethical leadership underpin the EDHEC Global MBA and the new Lead 360 programme has been designed to support personal, career and leadership development which began at the end of the week, led by Professor Inge de Clippeleer and Spencer Hamilton, head of MBA career and corporate services.

Coming Up: An intense MBA programme for ambitious goals

Over the next 10 months, the class of 2022 will embark on an intense and incredibly transformational journey. The newly updated curriculum is an even more personalised experience with added flexibility and choice to reflect and further support our increasingly diverse participants with very individual goals and ambitions and includes an increased focus on social impact, innovation and entrepreneurial leadership with more experiential learning, an increased connection to business and a new personal & professional development programme, Lead 360.

Beginning with 6 months of core strategic fundamentals, from March onwards each participant will customise their programme with a range of electives, a specialisation track and a tailored MBA project. Many will also seek to extend their EDHEC experience through an academic exchange or an internship.
